Eberechi Eze bagged a hat trick as Arsenal won the North London Derby 4-1 at The Emirates.
Tottenham hadn’t lost away from home this season in the league and had only conceded 3 goals on the road heading into this one. But they looked second best as Mikel Arteta’s men picked up the 3 points in style.
It took 36 minutes but Arsenal’s early pressure paid off after an excellent pass from Mikel Merino sent through Leandro Trossard who slotted home nicely to put the Gunners ahead.
A mere 5 minutes later Eze grabbed his first of the day following some poor defending from Spurs.
With the score 2-0 at half time Tottenham knew they needed to change things up and Thomas Frank decided to make a change bringing on Xavi Simons for Kevin Danso. But Arsenal were in a clinical mood and just after the restart Eze bagged his second to surely put the game to bed.
Richarlison managed to give Tottenham a glimmer of hope as his delightful effort from 40 yards went over the head of David Raya who had come ever so slightly off of his line. The goal was 1 of just 3 shots the visitors managed.
With 14 minutes left on the clock Eze completed his hat trick to secure the 3 points for Arsenal and truly capping off a sensational performance from the England international.
Thomas Frank told Sky Sports:
“It’s extremely painful, it was a bad performance and completely the opposite of what the intention was before we came here. We can only apologise to the fans for this performance”
Mikel Arteta was in a better mood declaring to Sky that he ‘enjoyed every minute of it’.
It doesn’t get any easier for Spurs as they travel to Paris to face PSG in the Champions League on Wednesday night, whilst Arsenal will play host to Bayern Munich buoyed by this dominating win against their North London rivals.
