Harlequins’ women have announced the signing of electric Fijian international back row Manuqalo Komaitai ahead of the new PWR season which kicks off this Friday night.
The 29-year-old only began playing rugby in 2021 after originally playing netball in her home country. She originally started out as a winger but has since converted to be an electric option in the back row, Komaitai has also now gone on to represent Fiji most recently at the 2025 World Cup, scoring a try against Scotland.
Off the field she is a proud member of the British Army, serving as part of the Irish Guards. She has featured in the Army v Navy games alongside some of her new teammates meaning she will have a few familiar faces in the dressing room when she starts her Quins career.
Upon joining Quins, Komaitai said;
“I’m really excited to be joining Harlequins this season, I really feel like this is an environment I can flourish in. It feels like a place I can develop my game and I’m excited to get going”
Head coach Ross Chisholm has said on Komaitai joining;
“We’re really pleased to welcome Manuqalo to The Stoop this season, she’s a powerful presence and will add a different dynamic to our pack. I’m excited to see her join up with the squad and show what she can do”
Harlequins kick their season off this Friday night at The Stoop when they take on Loughborough Lightning.
You can see the game live on BBC iPlayer at 19,30 Friday night.
