League One side Luton Town have today unveiled Jack Wilshere as their new manager.
The Hatters made the announcement this morning after parting ways with Matt Bloomfield around a week ago following a poor start to the new campaign.
Former England international Wilshere is most known for his time at Arsenal as a player but it was at the Luton centre of excellence where he began his career as a young boy.
He today described the announcement as ‘a huge honour and a privilege’ he also said that it ‘feels like a full circle moment’ that he began his footballing career at Luton and it is now the club that he will begin his full time managerial career.
He has previously worked with the Arsenal academy, also had a brief spell as Norwich city caretaker manager last season.
Wilshere will be joined by the vastly experienced Chris Powell with the former Charlton manager agreeing to take on the role as assistant manager following a recent brief spell as part of the backroom staff with League Two Walsall.
Luton currently sit 11th in Sky Bet League One with 5 wins from their opening 11 games. Their next game sees them host Mansfield Town at Kenilworth Road which will come as the new managers first game in charge.
